Japanese Earthquake

The disaster in Japan caused by the earthquake and the tsunami is horrific.  Thousands of people are dead and thousands more are presumed to be dead. The earthquake completely destroyed entire villages and towns and destroyed cities. Millions of people are fleeing to camps to get some aid. Millions of people are without power.  A real big problem is the nuclear powerplants, because they are afraid of a meltdown.

The overall destruction caused by the 8.9 measured earthquake has caused $100 billion worth of damage to the nation of Japan. I feel terrible about what has happened to that poor country. But Japan will recover over time because they are well prepared for something like this.  Japan has the third largest economy in the world. My prays go out to the victims and the people of Japan and I hope I can donate some money to help the relief effort and those who have been affected by this terrible event.

Books vs e-Books blog post

I enjoy reading books sometimes when there is not much to do or if it is a book I am really interested in.  I have never used e-books before but I know some people that have used e-books before and they said they really like it but would prefer either regular books or e-books.  I believe that e-books could potentially be the thing of the future but for now the paper book is still king of the literature and reading world.

Cyber bullying blog post

Cyber bullying is an evergrowing problem in today's society especially among children and young adults.  Cyber bullying is like any other kind of bullying except it uses the internet to bully instead of physically or face to face bullying.  I think cyber bullying is very bad and can cause grief and pain towards those who have experienced cyber bullying and those who are directly affected by cyber bullying.  I think that in order to stop cyber bullying and help those who are being bullyied, people must make sre they watch what they say online, make sure to let a parent or a guardian know if someone is bullying you, and last, just be an overall good person.

Snow days!!

I like snow days and I believe that most students like snow days because it gives them a break from school.  Some students don't like snow days because they rather be in school and get their work done than be wasting their time at home doing nothing.  People who are out of schools with minor jobs probaly don't like snow days because they are missing out on making money for the day.  Plus driving conditions can be messy if not terrible.  The reason why schools have to make school days up is because by state law students must be in school a certain number of days in the year, something like 180 days or something like that.  Some schools get out later than others in June.  In order to get enough ciriculum in the school board must decide to make up lost days due to snow days up in June.

Pro Bowl

The NFL Pro Bowl was held in Hawaii yesterday and it was between some of the best players of the nfc and the afc.  I thought that the afc was going to win but the nfc pulled it off with a 55-41 win.  By the middle of the 2nd quarter the nfc was up 42-0!  But as the game continued the afc fought back and made this a close game.  It was a fun game to watch!

Chinese Censorship

The Chinese censorship in China was formally anounced on February 1st, 1996.  It was put into affect soon after the official announcement.  This censorship regulates what websites people in China can view or open.  It blocks most explicit websites and chat rooms or instant messaging rooms.  There are three regualtions that must be followed under this censorship.  The first regulation was called the Temporary Regulation for the Management of Computer Information Network International Connection.  The other two regulations are just as important.

Napster vs. Itunes vs. Linewire

Napster was the first website where people could download music for free. The government shut that website down and another website called Linewire appeared as well. The government shut that website down too cause it is illegal to download music for free. I have never used Napster or Linewire because I have heard the quality isn't as good and it can infect your computer with viruses. It is also illegal so i would rather not use something that could get me arrested or have me sent to court. I have always used Itunes to download music because it is cheap and the quality is good, and I know that it is a secure site so that my computer won't be infected with any viruses. Whenever the government steps in and shuts an illegal music downloading site down another one will be created, but i'm just gonna stick to using itunes because I can trust it.
